Lydia Blanco hails from Corpus Christi, Texas and has had the acting bug in her since she was four years old and played a farmer in day care school. She knew she HAD to take a Theater Arts class as soon as she got to Jr. High, not knowing exactly what that was. She has yet to let a year go by without the theater being a part of her life. She performed non-stop in high school plays and competitions and received many awards, but it wasn't until college that she made the fateful choice to make this a career.
Before she made her "big move" to LA, she was part of the community of struggling actors in Austin, Texas. There in Austin, she landed a B. Iden Payne Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in the play My Visits with MGM by Edit Villarreal. She was very involved in the independent film scene with features such as The Right Girl, Beyond Words, and The MO of MI. The short film in which she starred in, Dial M for Maria, has appeared in several festivals and has won many awards. She is also remembered fondly for her image on billboards, buses, newspaper ads, and commercials where she is enthusiastically riding a coin horse for the Texas Rodeo.
Since moving to Hollywood, she has worked with Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks in The Terminal, and Kate Winslet and Jack Black in The Holiday - which opens Christmas 2006. She is best known for her role as Maria, Larry David's housekeeper, in HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Memorable credits include: The Shield, CSI, and Strong Medicine. |
